Environmental Lab Analyst
This individual responsible for ensuring environmental samples are collected, processed, and analyzed correctly and in a timely matter for the Sitka Tribe of Alaska Environmental Research Lab (STA-ERL). To be successful this individual must be able to perform complex lab analyses independently and with limited oversight, must be able to find creative solutions to problems, and be flexible with their work schedule. This individual must also be able to work well independently and as part of a team. Samples to be analyzed by STA-ERL include shellfish, plankton, seafood, and seawater. Analyses to be completed include receptor binding assay (RBA) for paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs), ELISA for PSTs, domoic acid (DA), and okadaic acid (OkA), HPLC for PSTs and DA, and total mercury (THg) analysis. Finally, this person will need to communicate data accurately and professionally via reports, public service announcements, the SEATOR website, and for group presentations.

Environmental Lab Specialist I
The Environmental Lab Specialist is responsible for assisting the Environmental Lab Manager with conducting laboratory analysis specific to marine biotoxins, contaminants, and ocean chemistry. Assist with developing the standard operating procedures for laboratory methods and maintaining the functionality of the Sitka Tribe of Alaska Environmental Research Lab and the STA Ocean Chemistry Lab, and creating biotoxin reports and public service announcements.

Environmental Education Coordinator
This Environmental Education Coordinator is responsible for developing, leading, and evaluating a new K-12 curriculum focused on One Health science used by the Sitka School District. This curriculum is specific to cultural and environmental literacy, culture camps, and scientific fieldwork. This position will work to coordinate the STA Tribal citizen shellfish testing program; maintain public outreach platforms and materials; assist STA staff with projects related to the Southeast Alaska Tribal Ocean Research (SEATOR) program and functionality of the Sitka Tribe of Alaska Environmental Research Lab.

Weir Technician 
The Sitka Tribe of Alaska is seeking a Weir Technician I to assist with its fisheries program. The incumbent’s primary duty will be staffing STA’s sockeye salmon monitoring project at Klag Bay. The Weir Technician will operate a remote sockeye weir, collecting data on salmonids and ensuring safe working conditions for all crew members. The incumbent must be comfortable working safely in brown bear habitat, hiking, boating, flying in floatplanes, and handling firearms. When not at Klag Bay, the Weir Technician I will assist with shellfish biomass surveys, wetlands monitoring and assessments, shellfish biotoxin testing, and traditional foods harvest and distribution.
